Random Thought #28

Rants’ attempt at poetry:

There once was a man from Nantucket, who got so fucking tired of outrageous taxes, wet and cold winters, douchebag tourists and lefty Socialist politics he up and moved the fuck away to somewhere warm and normal.

  1. You have the heart of a true poet it reads like a sonnet to my soul. 🙂

  2. You’re a regular Angela Mayou.

  4. Guarantee from a tanker: Free Verse
Willis’s John MacLain would be proud. Won’t use the other word.

You might enjoy, from Baen Books, John Ringo/Travis S. Taylor, Into The Looking Glass, Vorpal Blade, Manxome Foe and Claws That Catch. Earth’s first/only spaceship, built from a nuclear sub, Navy staff, Marines security and cutting-edge Scientist support. Meet alien races, ally with some, kill others. Equipment/armament sounds up-to-date.

  5. I don’t believe there is any rhyme or iambic pentameter,,,but hey, who the heck knows how to really write poetry anyway?

  6. This reminds me of my first ever poem ( the first of two till date ) ….and not because of your mad rhyming skills ,which are significant ,no doubt . Mostly because you’ve clearly stated it to be one .
    Here it is.

  7. I just wrote a poetry post, like 2 posts ago. ESP, dude. We’re mind melding. Oh, thats really disgusting. Is that your thought or mine?

  8. The meter and rhyme are quite eloquent.

  9. Thats not the way I remembered it, however your new Rant-ition is much more up to date.
Looking forward the new twists on the old classics

  10. John Erickson Says:

A magnificent writer of prose you be,
    And wonderfully full of wit.
Any fool can make a rhyme,
    It takes hardly any time,
    And usually sounds like…..
    Okay, I quit. 😉
    – OR –
    To A-stan you’ll be trucking.
    You civvies you’ll be shucking.
    The climate might be sucking,
    But we’ll all be clucking,
    Waiting for your next “f*#king”.
    Burma Shave. 😀

    • Thank you John! You’re the only other one old enough to remember Burma-Shave. I used to read them in reverse as we drove toward Detroit from Canada, to visit relatives. Like KayJai’s swimming blog, it brings back the innocence of childhood.

      • John Erickson Says:

While I’ve never seen the signs themselves, I used to have a whole book of them. My favourite was always “Round the curve/Lickety split/It’s a Beautiful Car/Wasn’t It?”. Great road safety message AND fun!

        • Not very ranty, though.

          • John Erickson Says:

Burma Shave wasn’t too ranty, as I recall. I’ll see if I can find that book – if I do, I’ll ship it to you to take to A-stan. Give you and the lads a good laugh.
By the by, you never answered a previous question – gonna be near any Brits or Canucks whilst in country?

          • Brits for certain, not sure if our northern bretheren are still involved… Archon? Kayjai?

          • John Erickson Says:

Far as I know, the Canucks are still there. If you do get near either Brits or Canadians, let me know. There’s a couple regiments I need you to keep an eye out for. If you meet a member of one of those regiments, I need you to say “Hi” and buy ’em a round or two. If the gent is from the UK regiment The Rifles (especially 2nd Battalion) or the Canadian regiment Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, buy ’em anything they want, and I’ll reimburse you, long as you tell the person it’s from their US rep, John Erickson! 😉

  11. Okay, so I live where it’s warm and normal, low taxes, righty tighties, never a wet/cold winter, and everyone hates Nantucket (and all places Yankee). Guess what? The tourists (and illegals) found us anyway. It’s time to colonize the moon…
